Pro Field Taking Shape for the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach

Jeff Sluman, previous tournament winner (2008, 2009) commits to the 2011 Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach

Pebble Beach, California Sixty-two Champions Tour professionals have already committed to play in the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, scheduled for July 8th – 10th.  Leading the pack are former tournament winners Craig Stadler, Scott Simpson, and Jeff Sluman. Overall 78 pros will be teamed with 78 select juniors and 156 amateurs as they compete on Pebble Beach Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course.

The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach showcases The First Tee, an initiative of the World Golf Foundation which provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values and life skills through golf and character education.

Other Champions Tour pros scheduled to play include crowd favorites Ben Crenshaw, John Cook, Chip Beck, Fuzzy Zoeller and former US Open winner Tom Kite.  The junior field will be announced May 27th.

Clint Eastwood will serve as chairman of the event and Arnold Palmer is honorary co-chair.  Play will be conducted on both courses Friday and Saturday and on Pebble Beach only on Sunday.  All three rounds will be broadcast internationally on the Golf Channel. 

The tournament is hosted by Monterey Peninsula Foundation and benefits The First Tee.  The Foundation also stages the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am which has generated over $86 million for charity since 1947.
